2. Puzzle processing

Puzzles, words, clues, answers and progress are processed in browser memory. Puzwupp does not send them to us or Google. PDFs are created locally. There is no account or server storage of puzzles. Reloading may discard entries. Fonts and illustrations do not use external font or image services.

3. IONOS hosting

The provider is IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. Access involves IP addresses, timestamps, requested files, browser/device information and available referring pages for content delivery, error detection and security. The basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in reliable, secure operation. IONOS processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Article 28 GDPR) and keeps access logs for no more than 7 days.

4. Google AdSense

Puzwupp is funded by Google AdSense advertising. For EEA and Swiss users the provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Ads appear only on the puzzle pages, not on the legal notice or this privacy policy. PDFs and print previews remain ad-free. Puzwupp does not pass puzzle words or answers to advertising.

Loading the ad code. When you open a puzzle page, your browser loads the AdSense code from Google servers. This technically transmits your IP address and browser/device information to Google, including before you make a choice in the consent dialog.

Consent dialog. For visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google shows a consent message on the first visit. It is Google’s certified consent management solution under IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). You can consent, refuse, or choose individual purposes and partners. The dialog lists the actual partners, purposes and retention periods.

With consent, Google and the partners listed in the dialog may store and read cookies, pixels and similar identifiers on your device, processing IP addresses, browser/device information, page visits, ad impressions and interactions for ad delivery, personalisation, measurement and fraud prevention. The legal basis is section 25(1) TDDDG and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Without consent, Google may serve so-called limited ads. According to Google, cookies and local storage are then used only to detect invalid traffic, i.e. fraud and abuse. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is funding this free service and protecting it against abuse.

Withdrawal. You may change or withdraw your choice at any time with effect for the future using the “Privacy settings” link in the footer of the puzzle pages. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. Puzzles work without consent.

Data may be processed outside the EU, particularly in the USA. Where applicable, transfers rely on adequacy decisions for certified recipients or safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. See Google Privacy and Google partner data information.

5. Email enquiries

We process contact details and messages to answer enquiries under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual matters or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for our legitimate interest in answering other requests. Data is deleted when no longer needed, subject to statutory retention obligations and justified continued retention.

6. Your rights

Subject to legal conditions, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability (Articles 15–20 GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Contact the controller above.

Right to object (Article 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to processing for direct marketing at any time without giving reasons. An informal message to the contact address above is sufficient.

You may complain to a supervisory authority, particularly in your place of residence or work or where an infringement occurred. For our registered office, the authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.

7. Other information

No registration is required. Google Analytics is not integrated. The website makes no automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. We update this notice when services change.

Language selection

The home page uses your preferred browser language: German opens the German version; other languages open English. A language you select is stored locally in your browser as “puzwupp-language”, solely to provide your chosen language (section 25(2)(2) TDDDG; Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in providing the selected language). It remains until you clear website data and is not sent to us. Direct links retain their language.
